LocoNav is one of the most widely deployed fleet telematics platforms in India, with a strong international footprint across emerging markets. For many Indian fleet operators, the first GPS + fleet platform they try is LocoNav. This page is for the buyer who has already tried it, or who is deciding between LocoNav and FleetoFi before signing.
We wrote this comparison as operators, not marketers. Claims here are sourced from LocoNav's public documentation, Capterra and G2 reviews, and operator feedback from the Indian leasing market.

TL;DR — who is this for?
LocoNav's core strength — broad device support, hardware-bundled deals
FleetoFi's core strength — contracts, challans, compliance, billing
LocoNav ships in many countries; FleetoFi is India-first by design
Both platforms compete in India, but the center of gravity is different:
- LocoNav: GPS-first. If your highest-value workflow is "know where my vehicles are right now," LocoNav has a polished answer.
- FleetoFi: Operations-first. If your highest-value workflow is "manage the lease, track compliance, bill the customer, recover the challan," FleetoFi is built around those objects.
Most buyers need both — but they need one platform of record. The question is which platform's primitives match your business.
Feature-by-feature
GPS tracking & live telematics
- LocoNav: Mature product. Live map, geofencing, trip history, alerts, fuel events, driver score, playback. Strong mobile app. Broad hardware SKUs — from 2-wheeler trackers to heavy commercial with OBD and video.
- FleetoFi: Hardware-agnostic ingestion from major Indian GPS vendors (iTriangle, Teltonika, Concox, Queclink). Live tracking, geofencing, and trip history in a unified dashboard with lease contracts and compliance. Does not sell hardware directly — you bring your own or buy through our partners.
If raw GPS dashboard polish is your #1 requirement, LocoNav is stronger. If GPS is one input into a broader operational system, FleetoFi's integration will serve you better long-term.
Lease contracts & customer portal
- LocoNav: Vehicle allocation to users/drivers is standard. Lease-contract-as-first-class-object, with recurring billing and a lessee-facing portal, is not the core design intent.
- FleetoFi: Lease contracts are a primary entity. Every vehicle has a timeline of contracts (lessee, start/end, terms, documents). The Customer Portal lets each lessee log in to see their own vehicles, challans, service history, and invoices — with no cross-tenant leakage. Portal access is gated by contract state.
For a leasing company, this is typically the deciding factor.
Challan management
- LocoNav: Compliance document tracking is available. Parivahan challan auto-ingestion with dispute workflow and pass-through billing to the lessee is not a core module based on publicly available documentation.
- FleetoFi: Purpose-built challan module. Scheduled Parivahan sync, state portal scrapes for five highest-volume states, auto-mapping to the lessee-at-violation-time, automatic dispute evidence assembly, and bulk GST-compliant pass-through invoicing. We have written extensively about this in our challan management guide.
Compliance tracking
- LocoNav: Document expiry alerts and renewal tracking.
- FleetoFi: All six mandatory Indian documents (RC, Insurance, Fitness, PUC, Road Tax, Permit) modeled as first-class fields. Saved filter views ("expired," "due in 7 days," "due in 30 days") out of the box. Alerts routed by region, vehicle group, or lease contract. Meter-based service reminders integrated into the same system.
Billing & GST invoicing
- LocoNav: Basic invoicing modules are available in higher plans.
- FleetoFi: GST e-invoicing with IRN generation, contract-based recurring billing aligned to lease cycles, automated pass-through of challans and excess costs to the lessee invoice, partial payments with ledger, credit notes, CGST/SGST/IGST tax splits. Invoices generate PDF with your brand on a configurable template.
Multi-tenant architecture
- LocoNav: Single-tenant per organization. Multiple customers in your account are modeled as sub-groups.
- FleetoFi: Multi-tenant. A leasing parent can run multiple legal entities, regions, or acquired sub-businesses as isolated tenants, each with independent users, data, RBAC, and reports. Consolidated reporting at the parent level. Useful for holding companies, regional rollups, or franchise-style leasing networks.
EV telematics
- LocoNav: EV support depends on hardware SKU. OEM API integration for EV-specific telemetry is not a published strength.
- FleetoFi: SOC, charging sessions, energy consumption (Wh/km), battery health, and range telemetry integrated via OEM APIs for common Indian EV platforms. Mixed EV + ICE fleets live in the same view.
Reporting
- LocoNav: Strong on operational GPS-derived reports — trip reports, utilization, driver behaviour.
- FleetoFi: Strong on fleet P&L — cost per vehicle, cost per km, contract profitability, compliance coverage, challan recovery rate, utilization. Custom saved views on any table column. Scheduled exports. CSV and Excel export everywhere.
Mobile
- LocoNav: Native Android and iOS apps — driver, fleet manager, admin views. Mature and well-reviewed.
- FleetoFi: Field technician app (Expo / React Native) for inspections, service, meter readings, and photo-documented work. Lightweight driver app on the roadmap.
Pricing structure
LocoNav does not publish list pricing — plans are typically quoted based on hardware SKU, software tier, and fleet size. The structural pattern:
- LocoNav: Hardware + software bundled. Annual commitment. Per-vehicle price covers both.
- FleetoFi: Software-only by default. Per-vehicle-per-month SaaS. Hardware optional via partners or BYO. No per-seat cost — unlimited users.
If you already own GPS hardware (from LocoNav or any major Indian vendor), FleetoFi is almost always cheaper because you pay for software only. If you are a brand-new fleet with zero hardware, the upfront economics can go either way — compare total three-year TCO including hardware depreciation.
Where LocoNav is the right choice
- You are an SMB fleet (10–100 vehicles) where GPS tracking is the single workflow you need.
- You want hardware + software bundled in one vendor with a single support line.
- Your fleet operates across multiple geographies (MENA, Southeast Asia, LATAM) and you need a platform that speaks the local telematics stack in each.
- You do not yet have lease contracts, pass-through challan billing, or GST e-invoicing as pain points.
Where FleetoFi is the right choice
- You are a leasing company — your primary business object is the lease contract.
- You run a corporate fleet with internal cost centers, departments, or allocations.
- You are a mid-market or enterprise fleet (100–5,000 vehicles) in India.
- You have a mixed EV + ICE fleet and want unified tooling.
- You have been losing money on unbilled challans and need bulk pass-through recovery.
- You want a lessee-facing portal branded to your company.
- You need multi-tenant architecture for sub-entities, regions, or acquired businesses.
- You already own GPS hardware and want to stop paying for it twice.
Migration from LocoNav to FleetoFi
Most migrations follow the same pattern:
- Day 0: Export vehicle master, user list, historical trips, and any compliance records from LocoNav (CSV).
- Day 1: Import to FleetoFi via Import Centre. Our team reviews, validates, reconciles.
- Day 2: Re-point GPS hardware telematics endpoint to FleetoFi ingestion (most MQTT/TCP-capable devices supported). Confirm live data.
- Day 3–5: Configure lease contracts, RBAC, alerts. Train ops team.
- Day 7: Cutover. LocoNav becomes read-only historical.
For fleets above 2,000 vehicles, add 2–3 weeks for RBAC/region setup and custom report recreation.
The decision question
Ask yourself: "What do I want my platform of record to be built around?"
- If the answer is "where are my vehicles right now?" → LocoNav.
- If the answer is "who leased what, when, and did I bill them correctly?" → FleetoFi.
Most Indian leasing and corporate fleet operators over 200 vehicles find the second question becomes the dominant one within 12 months. Plan accordingly.
